What is Actually Happening
She opened the project she'd been avoiding.
She had a book project she just didn't open, and allowed herself to be nudged toward it during one of our gatherings.
She noticed she hadn't gone near the project because of a loss, and now had support to keep returning to it.
She found that she'd written far more of it than she remembered, and decided she didn't want to write this one the way she'd written her previous book.
She began to create a rhythm and found more places to write.
She came back to writing every month because the time was already set aside on her calendar.
She showed up to the gatherings and wrote every single time she came.
She started writing on her own in between gatherings, and then found spaces where she enjoyed writing so she could do it more often.
She found her own way into the book.
She arrived with a book idea she'd been thinking about for years and just index cards to show for it.
She made the book one of the three things she focuses on every day, and started experimenting on her own, including somatic practices to help her get into a different writing voice.
She now has close to forty pages and a much clearer sense of what she's actually writing.

If you're wondering what this space stands for and whether it's for you, here are our tenets. Because while I have some freakin' awesome white people in my life, I'm not putting up with any funky-ass shit in this space.
As a woman of color, I know how important it is to be in spaces that account for our entire being.
In the Sacred Creative Studio, we explore what it feels like to create in acknowledgment of our full humanity — fully, freely, and without apology. After just one session with me, in circle, women feel a shift. That's what we're building here, together, every month.
Systems of oppression are real.
They are not up for debate in this space, and we actively resist any notion that would have us minimize or dismiss their impact. We consciously honor the legacies, histories, and structures that shape who gets to take up space — and we create from a full acknowledgment of that reality, not in spite of it.
We are not committed to patriarchal and capitalistic notions of productivity here.
We do not believe our worthiness is tied to how much we do. We trust that when we're ready for the support of deadlines and structure, we intuitively use what we need for the betterment of the work we're here to usher into the world.
This is a no-bypassing zone — spiritually, emotionally, all of it.
We believe all that's unfolding gets to be seen through and honored, even as we create. It's not the obstacle to creating — it's often the path to our most amazing creations.

My path back to myself, and to my soul, was my creativity. I'm a lover of words and stories. I followed that love straight through to a PhD — though not in the way I wanted, but in the way the institutions required. Now I'm reclaiming my voice, my time, and my writing to create books I know will change women's lives and their ability to connect to their own intuition.
In the Studio, I walk alongside you as a person in love with creating. I'm always learning, and I've learned a great deal about the conditions under which my being loves to create. I invite you to discover that for yourself because I know it's what makes the whole process so damn satisfying.
